Let’s get into some real soul food today. And no, I’m not talking greens and cornbread. I’m talking astrology—the kind that doesn’t just entertain, it illuminates. The kind that goes beyond your sun sign and cracks open the vault of who you really are.
I’m not here to convince you astrology is a science—it’s not. Often called a pseudoscience because it lacks empirical validation like psychology or medicine, astrology still holds undeniable value.
Faith-based doesn’t mean false.
For those of us who study both astrology and psychology, we know the value lies in how these frameworks help us understand ourselves. Jung himself (yup, the Carl Jung) saw astrology as a rich symbolic system for understanding archetypes and the psyche. While astrology isn’t clinical, it’s deeply reflective.
Natal charts reveal unconscious patterns, while aspects mirror inner gifts and conflicts, and transits highlight your current opportunities for growth.
I’ve read countless charts—especially my own—and the accuracy is often uncanny. And that’s where this gets good. So, let’s break it down.
Your Natal Chart: Your Soul’s Blueprint
Using your birthdate, location, and time of birth (very important), a natal chart (also called a birth chart) is a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment you were born. It maps where every planet, asteroid, and celestial point was located in the cosmos. Think of it as your soul’s user manual, custom-written by the Universe for this lifetime.
Unlike your sun sign—which is just one part of the puzzle—your natal chart is the whole energetic blueprint. It includes your moon sign (your emotions), your rising sign (your outward persona), and the placements of planets like Venus (love & creativity), Mars (drive & desire), and Saturn (discipline & karmic lessons).
This is the science of who you are—your cosmic DNA.
It tells your story in a language of symbols and energy. Unlike daily horoscopes (which are more like clickbait), a natal chart reveals:
- What drives you
- What challenges you
- What heals you
- What you came here to learn
My chart blends fire and air—passion, intellect, depth, and movement all swirling together.
- Sun in Gemini (8th House): Forever curious, mentally active, and driven to explore the hidden depths of life. Not just a thinker, but a seeker.
- Moon in Taurus: Emotionally grounded, craving comfort and stability. This typically is the motivation behind everything I do.
- Rising in Scorpio: Deep, intense, and not here for the superficial. I’ve got that “you either get me or you don’t” energy, and I’m fine with that.
That’s not fluff—that’s soul alignment.
Why Your Daily Horoscope Ain’t It
Reading your daily horoscope is like reading a weather report for an entire continent—too broad to be useful. You’re getting a snippet based on your Sun sign, ignoring the other 90% of your chart that actually paints the picture.
Horoscopes tell you what might happen. Your natal chart tells you how you’re wired to respond.
If you’re really trying to grow, evolve, or heal—you need more than vague affirmations. You need precision. You need reflection. You need your full chart. That chart? That’s your story. Not everyone born in Gemini season thinks the same, loves the same, or heals the same. And while people love to lump all Geminis together, the truth is far more nuanced. The rest of your chart—your Moon, Mars, Venus, Saturn, and so on—fill in the color.
Let’s look at some parts of my chart as a real-life example:
Mars in Aries in the 6th House
My Mars is in its home sign—Aries—which makes me competitive, ambitious, and impulsive. Since it sits in the 6th house (daily work, service), I thrive when I’m in motion and making a difference. Whether it’s launching a new creative project or going hard in my health goals, I don’t do half-effort. But with Mars square Saturn, I’ve had to learn how to pace myself. Burnout? Been there.
Sun Sextile Mars & Jupiter
This is where my confidence and optimism come from. That Gemini sun energy loves to do, especially when fueled by fire signs. Jupiter in Aries adds boldness—sometimes too bold—but that’s the energy that’s helped me take leaps in my life and career.
Black Moon Lilith in Pisces (5th House)
This one’s juicy. Lilith here means I struggle with trust, especially around people who seem too nice. My inner child is loud and creative—but also suspicious. Parenting and independence often clash. Lilith in the 5th house is about healing those wounds by embracing your playfulness and your power.
Saturn in Cancer in the 9th House
A deep sense of responsibility toward family and truth-seeking. I’ve got a foot in tradition and another in the metaphysical. No wonder I’m obsessed with higher learning and soulful exploration.
Masculine vs. Feminine Energy in Your Chart
Masculine and feminine in the natal chart isn’t about gender. It’s about energy.
Every sign and planet in astrology expresses either masculine (yang) or feminine (yin) energy. And your chart reveals which one you naturally lean toward—and which one you may need to cultivate.
Masculine energy is:
- Active
- Assertive
- Direct
- Outward-focused
- Logical
Feminine energy is:
- Receptive
- Intuitive
- Reflective
- Inward-focused
- Emotional
In my chart, there’s a heavy masculine influence—Aries placements, air signs, and cardinal modalities. That means I’m action-oriented, driven, and sometimes emotionally avoidant. Not because I’m cold, but because I value logic and independence. That’s the Aries + Gemini vibe. But it also means I’ve had to learn how to slow down, tune in, feel deeply, and receive support. I now honor the feminine energy of rest, receptivity, and emotional depth. Mine is a journey of rebalancing.
If your chart is heavy in feminine signs (Water and Earth), you might need to call in more action and direction.
We all carry both energies—and our healing often begins where we’ve been imbalanced. Your chart can guide you back to wholeness.
The Elements: What I’m Made Of (And You Are, Too)
Astrology rests on the ancient wisdom of the four elements: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. These aren’t just poetic metaphors—they’re energetic forces that color your personality, motivations, and how you relate to the world.
Let’s break them down:
🔥 Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
- Passionate, bold, action-oriented
- Seeks adventure, inspiration, and meaning
- Fueled by instinct
🌍 Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
- Grounded, reliable, focused on material reality
- Builds, maintains, and stabilizes
- Fueled by structure
💨 Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
- Intellectual, communicative, social
- Values logic, ideas, and connection
- Fueled by thought
🌊 Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
- Emotional, intuitive, nurturing
- Moves through feeling and depth
- Fueled by empathy
My chart is rich in Air (Gemini) and Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)—fast, bright, mentally stimulating, and always on the move. But this combo can burn out quick and overthink everything. That’s why my Taurus Moon and Scorpio rising are crucial. They slow me down, ground me, and remind me to feel, not just act or plan.
Understanding your elemental balance is life-changing.
Too much Earth? You may resist change. Too much Water? You might drown in emotion. Astrology isn’t about labels—it’s about awareness. What are you made of?
Numerology: Another Layer of Truth
Numbers speak too. If astrology maps your soul’s blueprint, numerology tunes you into its frequency. And the two work beautifully together.
Your Life Path Number, calculated from your birthdate, reveals your core lessons and life purpose. But numerology goes deeper. Each number carries an archetypal meaning:
1 – Independence and leadership
2 – Partnership and diplomacy
3 – Creativity and communication
4 – Foundation and discipline
5 – Change and freedom
6 – Nurturing and harmony
7 – Spiritual insight and analysis
8 – Power and abundance
9 – Completion and humanitarianism
Bonus? The number 13, often misunderstood, is the number of transformation, transcendence and sacred rebellion. (Jesus, Ophiuchus energy, anyone?)
What I love about numerology is that it confirms what astrology often points to. In numerology, I carry strong 7 and 9 energy—spiritual insight and completion. The 7 wants to dig deep, and the 9 is about wrapping up soul contracts and serving humanity. Both reflect my desire to go beyond surface-level living.
When paired with astrology, numerology brings a second language to the table. It helps confirm what the chart whispers.
Astrology Isn’t Prediction—It’s Presence
Astrology isn’t here to tell you what’s going to happen. It’s here to show you how to prepare.
The planets don’t control your life. But they do reflect cycles, patterns, and energetic alignment.
Transits (the current movement of planets) offer cosmic weather reports. You can ignore them—but wouldn’t it be wiser to bring an umbrella if you knew it was going to rain?
The goal isn’t to obsess over the stars. It’s to align with them. To co-create. To respond with awareness.
Astrology is a practice of mindfulness, not magic. It teaches presence. And presence leads to power.
You Are the Alchemist
Here’s the most important thing: you are not bound by your chart.
Your chart is a mirror, not a cage. It shows potential, not prison. You may have challenging aspects—squares, oppositions, retrogrades—but that just means you’ve got rich material to work with.
Alchemy is the art of turning base metal into gold. In energetic terms, it means turning wounds into wisdom, pain into purpose, and patterns into power.
- Struggle with self-worth? Use your Venus placement to reclaim your value.
- Constant tension in relationships? Study your 7th house and commit to healing those dynamics.
- Feel misunderstood or stuck? Look to your Mercury or Saturn for insight into communication and lessons.
Your chart isn’t the final word. You are. And once you know the code, you get to decide what you do with it.
The stars don’t decide your path—you do. But they sure can help light the way.
Final Thought: Know Thyself—Cosmically
Astrology is not about believing—it’s about remembering. It reminds you of who you are beneath all the labels, wounds, conditioning, and coping.
We are energetic, spiritual beings FIRST, having human experiences.
You don’t have to “believe” in astrology for it to serve you. You just need to be willing to look in the mirror.
I study my chart like I study psychology books. Because both offer me tools to understand, heal, and grow. And when used with intention, astrology becomes less about the stars and more about the self.
If you’ve been feeling disconnected, confused, or stuck—your chart might have some answers.
Not all the answers.
But maybe the right ones to get you started.
